I’m outside the arena. What’s going on?
Encom is putting out more than OS upgrades. Even with revenue from only games and other software, the company was doing great.
And what do you care about?
There’s a point, but…some employees are going to be very unwilling to give up those very cushy paychecks even if it would benefit someone else. A prime example of human selfishness.
I care about a lot of things. Animals for one. You want a thousand word essay on it or something?

He is, but Alan’s told me enough of the meetings he’s sat through to give me a pretty clear picture of where most of Encom’s priorities lie.

Nothing. I’m just not surprised. However I do wonder what he’s told you.
Basically that all Encom cares about is profit, and that they could care less what d- Kevin’s vision of what the company was meant to be.
Was he lying?
No, he wasn’t. But it is a business. With no profit to run day-to-day operations and pay employees, it’ll fall apart.
I know that, but…I’m also sure there’s a difference between entrepreneurship and greed. I don’t even know why I’m telling you this, I’m positive you don’t care.
I’m aware of that difference, its existence. You’d be surprised what I care about. I’m not an unreasonable man, but this whole free software idea is a little hard to wrap my mind around.
